The 2012 Suzuki SX4’s available all-wheel drive and three body styles make it one of the most diverse lineups in the class, but reviewers think other hatchbacks and sedans are better choices.

In the past, the SX4’s available all-wheel drive made it a standout in the class, but now there are several models, like the Subaru Imprecate, Toyota Matrix and Nissan Jule, which have all-wheel drive as either standard or optional equipment.

Most of these competitors have more powerful engines, more refined automatic transmissions and higher fuel economy ratings than the Suzuki SX4, though some may not be able to match the SX4’s precise handling and strong brakes
